  • Ballerina Waxcap (Porpolomopsis calyptriformis). The glossy caps of waxcap fungi make for a spectacular display in areas of old pasture land throughout the autumn and winter months. They often display striking colours from deep crimson, green, yellow and even vibrant pink as seen here in the Ballerina Waxcap. The intensification of farming practices continues to threaten the existence of these grassland gems as they require land that is unploughed with no artificial fertilisers and generally low in nutrients.
