A decomposed leaf skeleton, illuminated by a bioluminescent Headlight Beetle (Pyrophorus sp.). This species of click beetle has two glowing regions on its thorax, producing a strong green light at night. Whilst trundling through the leaf litter on the rainforest floor, its surroundings were lit with an eerie glow. Lowland rainforest, Northern Costa Rica. April.
