AH_Seed of a Liana vine (Alsomitra macrocarpa)_2998.jpg

twitterlinkedinfacebook

Seed of a Liana vine (Alsomitra macrocarpa) that can glide for hundreds of metres on its huge wings. The seeds fall from an opening on the underside of a large, hanging fruit that dangles from the rainforest canopy, giving the seeds every chance of a long glide to ensure effective seed dispersal. Danum Valley, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia. October.
