AH_Pots of the Heath Potter Wasp (Eumenes coarctatus)_2283.jpg
Three nest pots of the Heath Potter Wasp (Eumenes coarctatus). Each pot is built with moist clay, taking on average 1.5-3 hours. After laying a single egg in the pot, the female stocks the interior with caterpillars that she has stung and collected from the surrounded heathland. The pot is then sealed with more clay, as seen here. Dorset.
