Giant flower buds of Rafflesia tengku-adlinii, Center of Maliau Basin, Sabah's 'Lost World', Borneo. This is the rarest of the three known species of the Rafflesia genus, discovered in 1988. Rafflesia plants are parasitic, having no roots, leaves or stem. They form flowers directly off their host, a Liana vine {Tetrastigma sp.}. The Maliau Basin is an important site for this species.
