Aposematism describes the use of bright colouration and bold patterns to advertise that an organism is unpalatable or dangerous. In this example, all three insects are foul-tasting or toxic if eaten. All three are European insects: a Wood Tiger moth {Parasemia plantaginis plantains}, an Italian Striped-Bug / Minstrel Bug {Graphosoma lineatum} and a Cinnabar Moth {Tyria jacobaeae} caterpillar.
